It was really good seeing that so many persons actually came out to try their luck for this contest and for that I'm extremely grateful. Its nice seeing that some persons actually do put in some effort into making their first post, well, it's usually the first, to introduce themselves to this ever buzzing community.
Sadly, there were a lot of nice posts which could, in my honest opinion, have taken the price but didn't have enough upvotes. My words of encouragement to them is to keep with that because eventually you will surely get noticed. Three things matter in your journey on steemit...
- Consistency
- Organisation
- Communication
Once these three things are present, you will definitely climb higher up the ladder. I'm going to add a fifth which is
- A bit of luck
Yeah, everyone needs that. It might be what makes the difference between someone who smiles on seeing his wallet and someone who cannot but sigh.

So, without further ado, I want to announce the winner
THE WINNER OF THE FIRST WEEKLY NEWBIE #INTRODUCEYOURSELF CONTEST
Judging the winner wasn't as easy as you might think.
After much deliberation, it came down to three contestants: @merkky-eu, @floxycool and @smart-shaegxy
@merkky-eu had the highest number of upvotes (20) but the judges didn't really think her's was the best introduction. Fine, she had a beautiful picture of herself clearly displayed, told of her ambition, but, her introduction was short and had some spelling errors. Remember, this is a contest and little things like this counts.
@smart-shaegxy has 11 upvotes. He had two pictures of himself with one showing himself holding a placard with his username and the date he joined showing. That's something that's very important. His introduction though was still short and had fewer errors.
@floxycool had 14 upvotes but was not so much the best judging from the two others. Her #introduceyourself was too short and looked like was written in a hurry.
So, it came down to @smart-shaegxy and @merkky-eu. They both used the right tags but the judges took a critical look and found something(s).
@merkky-eu has a reputation of 33 which could have increased within the few days she participated in the contest and isn't far off from the peck of 32 but @smart-shaegxy has a rep of 36, three more than the former.
Also, @smart-shaegxy looked like he's already got some reward from his #introduceyourself post which is what we aim to do but @merkky-eu got nothing. That was the breaking point.
The winner for this week is, by upvote and unanimous decision of the judges, is
@merkky-eu
The reward will be sent to her account soonest as well as that of the runner-up @smart-shaegxy
