What does a computer specialist do?
This is a question that surely 99.99% of us who are computer or computer area want our family environment and friends understand.
Who has not heard in that environment to mention "I have a friend / family that knows about computers" of what you automatically know will bring you work, headaches and lots of laughter.
How can we explain to our environment that computer scientists are like doctors and that each person specializes in a specific area, because for them we are all seen as simple technicians of supports to repair computers.
In my case I have received questions about my knowledge when I inform about my ignorance in some specific area with the very offensive question "And did not you study computer science ??".
Among the most ridiculous requests I received during my professional career was without any doubt when an accountant of the company in which he worked, I request to change the color of the screen of his analog calculator. My reaction was not normal and I could not contain my laughter and clarify to the person that it was totally impossible for me.
It would be good if someday they understand that we are not all hackers, technical supports, programmers, DBA, network administrators, systems analysts, etc. That we do not graduate from universities to format computers, retrieve email codes, configure cell phones / tablets, etc.
It only remains for us to educate this environment a little so that they understand how wide our beautiful career is and laugh at the ridiculous requests.
