Steve Orlando gives us a peak into the soul of Wanda Maximoff in Scarlet Witch #1. Sara Pichelli, Elisabetta D'Amico and Matthew Wilson combine to artistically produce some very expressive characters within Orlando's storyline. The variant cover shown above is not only expressive but also seductive in a graphic novel sort of way.

After taking on Caeceleon and Doctor Hydro, Wanda returns to her place of business, the Emporium. This spiritual shop also employs Darcy, a very responsible clerk who makes sure that she is always available to take care of the steady customers' needs. Wanda's brother, Pietro, stopped by the shop with his usual sarcastic remarks. Pietro also has special powers that he uses as Quicksilver. Wanda also installed in this shop an entranceway known as the "Last Door." This portal finds those people in dire need of help and leads them into the shop.

Jarnette Chase enters this special doorway from Italy. Jackson Day, also known as the Corruptor, has taken over her entire town of Amatrice. The whole town, including her wife, is under Day's spell. His charms didn't appear to work on Jarnette due to the Worry Stone that her father had given her. While Jarnette is able to get her wife to focus on their marriage, Scarlet Witch casts a spell on the Corruptor that leaves him in a statue-like state. This successful job was spoiled upon Wanda's return to the shop when Vivian Vision, her daughter, walks through the door!
