I finally had a chance to read my Free Comic Book Day pickup of The Boys Herogasm #1. This Dynamite Comics installment brings a whole new meaning to "graphic" novel. While John McRea and Keith Burns are very adept at illustrating our heroes just as much with their clothes on as they are when they are naked, one should only expect as much if they are familiar with the television series.
With invaders entering our solar system, Homelander speaks at a press conference assuring the public that all hands are on deck, including past villains, to head into space to stop the evil that is headed their way. Leaving to the cheers of those in attendance, Homelander leads every supposed hero to an island near West Costa Rica for one giant orgy. Speaking of Homelander, he keeps having Soldier Boy sleep with him under the premise that this will earn him a spot in the Seven. Big muscles obviously don't always come with big brains!
While a scene from Caligula appears to be playing out, the Vice President arrives courtesy of Airforce Two. It appears that two things are in motion here. First, the Vice President was sent to deal with Homelander, but it also appears that there is another plan to take out the second in charge. I don't know if this Garth Ennis teaser is enough to make me dig deeper into this comic book series. I also gave up on the television series, watching only the first season. Now my dilemma is should I give it another chance, because sometimes current mood can affect an opinion of a title!
