How do you get out of your comfort zone, and get out there to meet new people? If you are looking for straight answer, I have one for you.

I wish there was a fantastic answer that would immediately solve your challenge, but there is only the simple truth. To be brutally honest, you just do. Sure, I could spin you a long explanation about flowery topics, but it won't help you.

If your comfort zone is preventing you from going out alone, think about all that you are missing. Perhaps you really want to go out but you don't want to go out all on your own. This is actually fairly common for most people. They don't wish to be seen as losers all on their lonesome. Isn't it so much worse to stay home and prove everyone right?

The most important aspect of this discussion is that when you are looking for a quick fix, you are reaching for an external source of power. In other words, you want to 'know' that it will be okay to go out on your own. Since you will never know this for sure, you choose to stay in a comfort zone … where it's safe.

Building self-confidence and self-esteem enables you to go out and live life without getting obsessed with what others think of you. Now, we have arrived at the root of the challenge. Your self-esteem. Therefore, what is keeping you from going out alone is not going out alone, but rather what people will think about you going out alone.

Confident people tend to be less concerned with what others think about them. It's not to say that they don't experience the emotions of rejection; they just don't let it stop them. You might think that this is rather brave of them, but the reality is that they just choose not to stop long enough to allow their fears to hold them back.

It's a bit like jumping into cold water. If you try to ease in, and keep pulling back, the shock of the freezing water is the same, but it's prolonged. If you simply jump in, let your heart race, and get the shock over and done with, it feels much easier.

So, here are some tips for you after you have taken the plunge. Don't stop. Don't linger. Keep moving forward. This way, you will be too busy to wallow in fear. If you go to a venue alone, move around with purpose.

Don't run around like a frightened chicken. The faster you walk, the more nervous you will look, and the more prone you are to tripping over your own feet. Pick up a drink, it gives your hands something to do. You might even chat to someone at the bar and pass the time in a pleasant fashion. Perhaps you can browse wares on display. Adapt to each environment.

Stop looking left and right nervously, or hiding behind furniture. Be brave and slowly stride into the room as if you are headed somewhere. Confident people are not ashamed of arriving or leaving alone. Hold your head up and remember; it was your decision to go alone. Perhaps you will leave with a new friend.
