The Red Head That Was - ColorChallenge: Monday Red

In a recent color challenge post titled A Drum Named Envy I wrote about a drum I had recently crafted. The drum pictured in this post, which is still nameless, was crafted at the same time, with the same technique used when dying the head, just different color dyes.

The red dyes turned out great! The bad part of this story is that sometimes the heads we receive have weak spots. There is really no way to tell before pulling a head if it has a weak spot, so it's almost a kind of luck thing. Well, this head was one of those that had a weak spot.

Once the drum was pulled to tension it became very clear that we had a problem. This is a 10inch drum (diameter at the top), and we don't make a lot of drums smaller than this, so, unfortunately, the head is now no good. I will attempt it again with the same dyes and technique, and hope for a similar outcome.

Thanks for looking . Steem on!
