Polyantha-roses are often called bed roses. They are 60 - 80 cm high and come in many variants. The plants can be planted either in the garden or in pots on the balcony or terrace. The polyantharose needs a sunny, airy location with a loamy, humus rich soil, which may also have sand particles. The cutting is extremely important! If they are not cut regularly, they will develop fewer flowers from year to year. They have two flowering periods: in summer and autumn.

The name polyantha was awarded in 1843 by the German botanists Philipp Franz von Siebold and Joseph Gerhard Zuccarini for a multi-flowered rose from East Asia.

This is my entry for #colorchallenge Sunday Purple. #colorchallenge is a contest initiated by @kalemandra.
