Even regular badminton followers might not have heard about Shi Yuqi as he is a relative newcomer on the international scene.
But trust me, you will hear much more about him in the near future.
Before getting started I would like to mention that China has struggled a little to find the replacement for "The greatest player of all time" Lin Dan. Yea, sure, Chen Long is doing extremely well and is both reigning Olympic and world champion but he is not as dominant as Lin Dan used to be. Obviously it's impossible to foster a player like Lin Dan every 10 years - a player of his caliber comes along every 100 years or so.
