"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding."

(Holy Bible, Proverbs 3:5)

This verse has many meanings and applications, but only one interpretationβ€”and that's exactly what it's saying: don't understand things in your own way, but trust God in his explanation of things, and what he's said in the Holy Bible, which is perfect and infallible.

Only God can declare what his word means. Did his message come from you, or unto you only (1 Corinthians 14:36)? There may be many meanings and applications of a passage, but there can only be one interpretation (2 Peter 1:20); God does not contradict himself, and he does not give anybody a special exemption, the ability to interpret the scripture in accordance with their wicked lifestyle, so that they may live without a guilty conscience.

Trust what God has said about how we must live, and don't lean on your own understand.

God's way is always perfect.
