The Bible testifies of itself from Genisis to Revelations. It's one of the greatest gifts God has given us, and with this gift, we as believers can search out the things that we hear to see if they are so.
The Apostle Paul encouraged this, and said this of the Bereans.
"These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so."Acts 17:11
Examples of what Jesus Himself said about the scriptures.
" And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned, the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Joseph and his mother knew not of it. But they, supposing him to have been in the company, went a day's journey; and they sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintance And when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem, seeking him. And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions." Luke 2:43-46
"And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers."Luke 2:47
Now let's look at some other things that Jesus said regarding His word.
"Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away."Matthew 24:35
"He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day."John 12:48
"It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life."John 6:63
"If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;"John 10:35
Notice in the above verse, Jesus said, "the scriptures cannot be broken."
"But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God."Matthew 4:4
"Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God."
"Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve." Matthew 4:10
(I encourage anyone reading this to read the entire passage in Matthew ch. 4. Notice that Jesus referenced the scriptures three times while the devil tried to tempt Him and the first response was, "Man shall not live on bread alone but on every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God."
