Faith is " believing without even seeing. " " Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. " - Hebrews

Faithfulness is steadfastness, constancy, or allegiance. It is carefulness in keeping what we are entrusted with. It is also the conviction that the Scriptures accurately reflect reality. Biblical faithfulness requires belief in what the Bible says about God His existence, His works, and His character. Hebrews 11 gives a long list of men and women in the old Testament who trusted God and were full of faith.

These include Abel

By faith Abel brought God a better offering than Cain did. By faith he was commended as righteous when God spoke well of his offerings. And by faith Abel still speaks, even though he is dead. - Hebrews 11:4 NIV

Enoch

By faith Enoch was taken from this life, so that he did not experience death: “He could not be found, because God had taken him away.”[a] For before he was taken, he was commended as one who pleased God. - Hebrews 11:5 NIV

Noah

By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith, he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that is in keeping with faith. - Hebrews 11:7 NIV

Abraham and Sarah

By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going. By faith he made his home in the promised land like a stranger in a foreign country; he lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him of the same promise. For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God. And by faith even Sarah, who was past childbearing age, was enabled to bear children because she considered him faithful who had made the promise. - Hebrews 11:8-11 NIV

Believers must learn to trust God even when it seems He is silent.

For we live by faith, not by sight. - 2 Corinthians 5:7 NIV.

Faithfulness must also be seen in our service unto God and relationship with fellow men.

I know where you live where Satan has his throne. Yet you remain true to my name. You did not renounce your faith in me, not even in the days of Antipas, my faithful witness, who was put to death in your city where Satan lives. - Revelations 2:13

With the help of Silas, whom I regard as a faithful brother, I have written to you briefly, encouraging you and testifying that this is the true grace of God. Stand fast in it. - 1 Peter 5:12 NIV

CONCLUSION

We do not become a Christian on our own, and we cannot grow on our own. Every good thing we do by faith is the fruit of the Spirit's work in our lives.

for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose. - Philippians 2:13 NIV.
