The Zhangye Danxia Geopark in China's Kansu province, which you can see in the photo below, is composed of sedimentary rock layers that have accumulated over millions of years.
The variety of minerals contained in the layers and the flora formed depending on the seasons gave the layers different colors.
Covering an area of hundreds of square kilometers, the rock layers are curled as a result of tectonic movements over time, and wind and rain erode, creating numerous hills, valleys, caves and cliffs.
