Chibera - The Economy And Smt's

We’ll be discussing in this post about chibera core economy and potential plans for SMT’S.

Chibera - The Steem MMORPG

Gold, Silver, and Copper

Gold, silver, and copper will be traditional in-game currency for Chibera. Honestly, it will be the most boring currency you will ever find. It’s the stuff you get in-game while you’re killing monsters, finishing quests, selling junk to vendors etc.

Gold, silver, and copper can also be gained by PvPing. That means by killing other people. Or finishing battlegrounds. And even by participation in arenas.

And lastly, the one unique thing about gold, silver, and copper in Chibera is that you’ll be able to earn it through your professions. Whether you do that by selling swords you made as a blacksmith on the auction house or by getting rent from people who rent out rooms in your castle from you, it’s still yours.

Gold, silver, and copper will be centralized. It will also be unlimited as it will be generated by playing the game. At its core, it will not be a cryptocurrency. Nor will it be an SMT.
The reason for that is simple. We do need a currency that is generated by playing the game. Mobs have to drop something. Quests need to have rewards. And while we realize inflation will certainly happen over time and cause gold to lose its value to a degree, there are ways to combat or make that issue slower, for example, gold sinks.

Cash shop Currency - Working name, Diamonds

cashshop.png

The second currency that will be used to buy stuff from our cash shop. It’s really simple. It the stuff you buy from us to buy shinies. Whether its a mount, a cool skin for your house or just a hairstyle that makes your character look awesome. Nothing that will give you an advantage compared to other players though. We’re not going Pay 2 Win.

The cash shop currency will still be a fairly centralized currency. It will be just as unlimited as gold but instead of being generated by you playing the game, it will be generated by you paying us money. On the other hand, this currency will never suffer from inflation as it will be burned whenever you buy something with it.

We are wondering if our cash shop points could be an SMT. But at this very moment, we cannot tell you. We do not know whether there will be a way to make an unlimited SMT that can be burned with every transaction that isn’t us selling it to the user.

SMT 1

Sm1.png

Our (first) SMT will be used to bridge the gap between in-game currency and the real world. Our primary goal for it is to be used on the auction house to allow our players to buy in-game items with our SMT. You’ll be able to buy all the same items for the SMT as you will be able to buy for gold, silver, and copper.

We also plan to implement a feature that will allow players to trade SMTs for gold, silver, and copper directly. But this will not be us selling those items. This will be a pure free market decision made by the player that feel they can sell their gold while gaining SMTs for it and by the people who prefer to buy it. We do not want to sell gold directly as we feel that could cause the game to become Pay 2 Win. Instead, it will be limited by the number of gold people are willing to grind out and sell.

Yes, our SMT will be an SMT. This we believe to be fairly obvious. At this moment we cannot give you any really specific numbers, like what we plan the supply to be, whether it will be an airdrop, or whether it will be tradable for just Steem or for SBDs for both Steem and SBDs or even for another SMT. All that depends on how exactly SMTs will be implemented by Steem inc.

One thing we do know for sure is that it will have a fixed amount of tokens from the very beginning.

SMT 2

The second SMT we definitely plan on using will be the one used for the purposes of our community forums. And you can sort of compare it to how Steem and Steem Power works on the current Steem blockchain. You get it for posting content that others like on our community forums. It doesn’t matter whether you’re just posting about a cool vista you found a video of a particularly cool kill you got on that pesky mage or giant guide on how to finish that one long quest chain everybody has been having trouble with. As long as people like your content, you’ll get some tokens.

Yes, our SMT will be an SMT. This we believe to be fairly obvious. At this moment we cannot give you any really specific numbers, like what we plan the supply to be, how many tokens will be created when we launch the SMT, whether it will be an airdrop, or whether it will be tradable for just Steem or for SBDs for both Steem and SBDs or even for another SMT. All that depends on how exactly SMTs will be implemented by Steem inc.

This token will differ from SMT 1 in two significant ways.

  1. This token will be generated on an ongoing basis similar to how Steem is currently being generated. Users will be getting their tokens
  2. Because the token will be used to reward content creation and curation, it will be a staked token.

Disclaimer!

All the stuff we wrote can and will likely be changed to a certain degree as we find out more information about the SMT implementation by Steem inc. This will allow us to find out how well SMTs test during alpha and beta testing.

We're currently considering using SMTs for stuff we haven’t discussed here as well. But those ideas aren’t flushed out enough to be presented to the public yet. We want to show that we do have clear ideas on how to use SMTs and how to implement them without turning the game Pay 2 Win, making it over-complicated for players or just having the SMTs interfere with the game being fun.
