En un viaje que realice al Golfo de Morrosquillo, en la Costa Caribe Colombiana, al llegar a la isla Santa Cruz del Islote me lleve la sorpresa de que es la Isla mas poblada del mundo, y esta aquí en mi País a 80 Km de la Ciudad Amurallada, Cartagena de Indias.
On a trip I made to the Gulf of Morrosquillo, on the Colombian Caribbean Coast, when I arrived on the island of Santa Cruz del Islote, I was surprised that it is the most populated island in the world, and it is here in my country 80 km from the Walled City, Cartagena de Indias.
Cuando llegamos a la Isla, me baje con una curiosidad increíble por conocer aquel lugar, nunca antes había escuchado de él, las personas son muy amables y salieron enseguida a recibirnos; la isla tiene la totalidad de su área totalmente construida y cuenta con una población de aproximadamente 1100 habitantes, tiene unos angostos pasajes que sirven para la circulación de las personas, poseen un pequeño puesto de salud, una escuela y dos pequeñas tiendas. Algo que me llamo mucho la atención y es que en la Isla no hay puesto de policía, hay cero delincuencia y se rigen por un manual de convivencia que ellos mismos crearon. Fue una experiencia muy agradable el compartir con sus habitantes que la mayoría son pescadores, es un lugar que definitivamente hay que visitar. Me fui de ese lugar orgullosa de saber que en mi país tenemos sitios maravillosos por conocer.
When we arrived on the Island, I went down with an incredible curiosity to know that place, I had never heard of it before, the people are very kind and went immediately to receive us; the island has the totality of its area totally constructed and counts on a population of approximately 1100 inhabitants, has some narrow passages that serve for the circulation of the people, own a small place of health, a school and two small stores. Something that caught my attention and is that on the island there is no police station, there is zero crime and are governed by a manual of coexistence that they created. It was a very pleasant experience to share with its inhabitants that most of them are fishermen, it is definitely a place to visit. I left that place proud to know that in my country we have wonderful places to know.
