My Actifit RC: May 25th 23 - The angel is flying #Alive

A dear greeting to all lovers of physical activities that populate the mythical community of Actifit

After a morning of blue and sun storms seem to threaten the tranquility of the afternoon. But isolated manifestations are raging in the center of the region and outside the province of Naples.

However, as temperatures have increased sharply, the large masses of humid air must reach very high altitudes to condense and discharge rain to the ground and therefore are visible from great distances. They almost seem to remind us that even if it seems serene somewhere there are big storms.

Today I’m leaving to travel to Giugliano in Campania and I immediately celebrate my #iamalivechallenge number 356 confident to finish it #alive and not be hindered by bad weather.

It is 2 pm and the underground gallery of Piazza Garibaldi is already crowded by tourists from all over the world. I’m only passing through here because I have to take the subway number 1. Train that will arrive on time even though I was not in a hurry.

Arrived in Giugliano in Campania I go to my son Gaetano’s house and while I wait for him to prepare known classic cloud formations that usually do not foretell anything good or mammatus.

Then we went to the parish church of San Giovanni Nuovo, one of the many churches that are present on the main street of Giugliano. I am here today because Gaetano had to rehearse for his communion and I also had to confess.

The church has been recently received and renovated and is in all its splendor. Built in 1600 in 25 years it takes its current appearance in 1700 when its side bell towers were added. However, I have noticed that the churches of this city all have particular characteristics that make them original.

The altar inside is very sober but very well made and elegant composed of marble of fine workmanship while the barrel-shaped vault is finely worked in wood and gold.

Since it was late afternoon I was able to admire also this play of reflected light that formed the cross of a window of this statue that is under an old frescoes that probably came out of some renovation work.

Finished rehearsals and since Giugliano was celebrating we went to the main square of the village.

Obviously, even if there are the festoons for the Naples Championship in photos, the festive atmosphere was due to the upcoming celebrations of Our Lady of Peace. Hopefully a just peace.

The square of the Sanctuary of the Annunciation was crowded with spectators who attended the test of the flight of the Angel a function that takes place every year for 250 years this part in the period of Pentecost.

It simulates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles characteristic of this ecclesiastical rite. It takes place late in the evening hooking a little girl in the flesh dressed as an angel to a rope suspended in the void that descends singing at the top of a building and stops halfway when then with a pulley is lowered while spreading petals of flowers for the square and let free flying white doves.

After attending this beautiful celebration I return home to watch the natural spectacle of sunset with a sky finally free from stormy clouds. Clouds that looked scary but eventually turned out to be less dangerous than they seemed.
