Several different versions of the car were raced in the mid-to-late 1960s, taking Le Mans victories four consecutive times – in 1966, 1967, 1968 and 1969. With its Gulf colour scheme, stunning looks and incredible speed, it’s no surprise the car has become so iconic.
The car? Ford GT40
Based on British Lola Mk6, GT40 Mk1, 2, 3 were built and designed in England while Mk4 was built in the US. Using an American 4.7 liter, Ford V-8 engine which was later enlarged to 4.9 liter with custom designed alloy Gurney-Weslake cylinder heads.
