History of the Lister-Jaguar Costin
The British racing car company Lister was founded in 1954 by the racing driver Brian Lister. In 1957 and 1958, Lister dominated the British Dports Car racing thanks to the Knobbly, a curved bodywork with 3.4 litre Jaguar D-type XK inline-six engine that can reach 160 kmh in 11.2 seconds.
In 1959, Brian Lister wanted a new car and hired the aerodynamicist Frank Costin known for adapting aircraft aerodynamic knowledge for automobile use. The car has the same chassis as the Knobbly but with some upgrades like low frontal area and long drag. Although competition started positively, engine failures forced Lister to withdraw from racing.
