Trump wants to increase foreign car tariffs by 25%. Are there suitable American replacements?

If cars made abroad start to cost more, I struggle to think of what American cars are suitable replacements.

All of Ford's cars are old, and not everybody wants a CUV. Nor do they want a car with a fire hazard from the engine (Ford 1.6L)
The Buick Regal TourX isn't a real wagon like a Volvo V60 is, nor is it as safe.
Cadillac is killing some of their cars. And their otherwise decent cars were ruined by age and a terrible CUE system.
FCA has some old vehicles. Shoehorning a 6.4L or 6.2L SC V8 is fun but not good enough. And no SUV should still have a 4 speed auto.
Teslas aren't always cheap in price, but the Model 3 can be cheap in build quality.
The Corvette is cool but it's not the last word in performance. The Ford GT is impossible to get. The Dodge Viper is dead. R.I.P.

The context I don't quite understand is if Trump is referring to cars with foreign badges on them, or all cars made outside the USA. If it is the latter, this will have serious consequences on even American marques. What do you think?
