We are on a mission to immortalise traditional Caribbean culture through art! Join us by donating or contact us if you are a Caribbean artist interested in being a part of this project.
This project aims to immortalise traditional Caribbean culture through works of art by Caribbean artists. We aim to penetrate the retail market with canvas prints of visual artwork, fabric prints, postcards, books of art, souvenirs, and combined art and literary work that documents Caribbean folklore, Nancy stories and poetry for use in schools, other cultural institutions and by the general public.
By our efforts we hope to make traditional Caribbean culture 'popular' again and something to be appreciated and treasured by the rest of the world and by its people.
We aim to draw the youth back to their culture which has suffered greatly because of the invasion of foreign subcultures through the mass media where positive images of Caribbean culture and Caribbean people are for the most part absent.
We aim to give young Caribbean artists the opportunity to showcase their talent and pursue art as a viable form of employment that they can use to help themselves, their families, and create opportunities for others in their communities.
We aim to compliment the use of the oral tradition of passing on information from one generation to the next by preserving Caribbean culture for future generations via vibrant pieces of artwork that capture the spirit of Caribbean people, but especially so by Caribbean people who know the stories behind the pictures.
We aim to instil pride in our region once again which has been marred by the drug trade, high rates of crime and human trafficking.
We would like to engage the skill of Caribbean artists to help in the preservation of this work by telling the story of Caribbean people through their work. We would like support from publishers, printers, distributors, marketers and owners of large spaces within London and other European, Asian, and North American cities where this work can be exhibited.
We hope to successfully kickstart this project with your help. The initial exhibition will be based in London in the month of October 2017 with subsequent exhibits to be held in Jamaica, Barbados, and Trinidad & Tobago. We plan to raise awareness of the region's indigenous talent and add value to regional communities by hosting artistic workshops that will give artists of the region fair exposure to global markets, and give global citizens access to Caribbean work.
Your donations will help to cover the London exhibition and the marketing of finished material, the profits of which will be fed back into the project to assist in taking it to the next phase which is the touring exhibition and hosting of workshops in three Caribbean countries where we can further collaborate with established institutions to facilitate ongoing training programs free of charge to local artists.
We will follow up with you to show the results of our work and give you the opportunity in the near future to help take the project to its next phase.
