NJ Legislation to legalize cannabis introduced today

Great news from my home state of NJ! A legislative bill that will legalize the recreational use of marijuana for anyone over the age of 21 was introduced in the New Jersey Senate by Senator Nicholas Scutari. I have been following this closely in my state for many years and I have seen growing support, but a bad Governor (Chris Christie) prevented any progress from occurring. With Phil Murphy in office, I see a bright future for this legislation!

Governor Phil Murphy pledged his support for legalizing cannabis. Senate Bill No. 830. is the vehicle for that promise to become a reality in the near future. I am sure there will be opposition, but the more people get educated regarding the benefits of cannabis and the harms of prohibition the more it gains support.

So whats in the bill?

According to an article posted by Lexology:

S830 permits individuals 21 years old and older to possess up to 1 ounce of marijuana, 16 ounces of marijuana-infused products in solids, 72 ounces in liquid form, 7 grams of concentrate, and up to six immature plants. The bill further establishes the Division of Marijuana Enforcement, which is charged with regulating the industry.
