Walk of Hope update : in Bamboo Nation 3, Cebu, Philippines

Although I have posted about this event from our @walkofhope account 2 days ago, photos from @flabbergast-art started pouring in last night, who together with #tataydagsa and a friend Jude, who is another Creative from Bayawan. These guys were invited to join delegates from Indonesia and Cebu.org, i think most of them are of Architectural students who are into Bamboo structures at the moment. A lot of bamboo drawings and innovations were also sent to me but not at a liberty to show them here.

To give you a clue:

Indonesia for their part have been building bamboo structures that can be found online. In the Philippines, the most that I have seen the usage of a bamboo are furnitures. The most problem is the structural integrity after a few years. The joints tend to be unsturdy after some time so one solution that Bayawan City has been doing was to treat the bamboo, leave them floating by the sea for a number of days. This is the natural process of treatment.

Indonesia may just have perfected a way in joining bamboo joints in their structures. Or perhaps found a way to do it and was sharing it during the Bamboo Nation 3 in Cebu.

Bamboo Art and Music

For @walkofhope, our guys were invited to share our bamboo crafts and innovations, including the bamboo musical instruments that @flabbergast-art has recently made. And for the first time, played all of them at the venue, using his loop recorder.

For now, the students of San Carlos University might just be inclined to learn some bamboo instruments.

Bamboo jamming at its' best!

During the plastic waste solutions summit, @flabbergast-art sold a couple of bamboo didgeridoos for $50 each. Care to play one of these? A flute perhaps?
