EDIFYING THE CHURCH

EDIFYING THE CHURCH

Text: “From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.”Eph 4:16

One major goal of been edified as a believer is been able to edify the Church.* The Church is the body of Christ which is made up of Christ as the head and the individual believers as the members or parts of this body.

Just as every part of the human body has a unique and specific role to play so also is the body of Christ. Each one of us has a role to play.
Our involvement as a member of the body contributes to the overall growth of it. Each one of us needs to understand how relevant we are to the overall outlook of the Church. There is really no basis for comparing the usefulness of the parts of the human body, because their uses are different.

We actually get the best out of Church when we are not just bench warmers but supplying something to make the whole body increase.*

Notice: the following phrase “...Every joint supplieth...” and “…effectual working in the measure of every part...” The question is what are you supplying to the whole body, what is your usefulness to the body.

You can complain about the choir, the usher that did not greet you well. What exactly is your own contribution? We actually discover divine destiny as we locate areas where we are supposed to be “supplying”. God has equipped you as a believer to supply and not just to consume. Think of ways to make things better and volunteer to do it. Don’t wait to be served. If you are away from the Church you attend presently for a whole month and they don’t miss you, then you must be a bench warmer.

When you see a believer that is truly edified they will be fervent in the spirit serving the Lord in their sphere of influence.*

PRAYER:
God is at work in me to see the body of Christ grow and edified. The Spirit of God is accomplishing great things through me.
