"Morata is sad, he has a difficult time because of injury," said Alonso as reported by Soccerway.

Spain coach Julien Lopetegui crossed out Morata and only summoned four strikers for a friendly against Germany and Argentina. The four names are Iago Aspas (Celta Vigo), Rodrigo (Valencia), Diego Costa (Atletico Madrid), and Lucas Vazquez (Real Madrid).

Lopetegui revealed, he crossed out because the striker Morata has not been maximized with Chelsea. Nevertheless, Lopetegui said Morata's chances of coming to the 2018 World Cup are still open.

"We feel it's the right moment for new faces, they're good, but there's something worth coming in, though not in the current squad," Lopetegui said as quoted by Soccer Laduma.

As a partner at Chelsea, Alonso openly hopes Morata can enter the national team. 27-year-old defender is also hoping, Morata can improve with Chelsea.

"I hope he helps us at the end of the season, he is very important and I hope he is in the 2018 World Cup squad," said Alonso
