NYC LABOR DAY 2018 BEACH DAY

Good morning everyone! Everything is looking on schedule in New York City as far as our brief cool down, then a return to very warm to hot conditions Labor Day onward.

For today, thunderstorm action continues to look spotty and sparse as a cold front approaches with not much substance. We still need to keep a lookout for a pop-up heavy thunderstorm, but not everyone is going to see action if anything at all. We'll go for 90 again today before things cool off temporarily.

Energy continues to want to hang around tomorrow behind our slow moving cold front. Helping clouds stick around and also give us the slight risk of some scattered showers and drizzle. Expect mid to upper 70's tomorrow as highs with northeast winds.

For the weekend, it's not looking too bad as things moderate fairly quickly. Clouds still hang around on Saturday with the slight chance of a shower, but we're back into the upper 70's to low 80's for most of the area. If we can squeeze out a few extra rays of sun, those low 80's will be easy. Troughy and tropical weather returns for Sunday before the hot stuff tries to move back in. We'll have warm and humid conditions, slight chance of showers and storms, highs in the low to mid 80's.

For your Labor Day Monday, let the beach weather reign! Very warm to hot weather pushes its way back in, making for one of the busiest Labor Days we've had in quite some time in terms of beach traffic. Look for partly to mostly sunny skies, hazy and humid, highs in the upper 80's to near 90.

If things work out the way I'm thinking, we remain very warm to hot through Thursday or Friday next week depending on the timing of another front/cool down. This cool down has the chance of being more significant temp-wise, but it still looks to remain brief. Overall, we'll have warm to unseasonably warm temps transiting in and out the area till at least mid September.

As far as the tropics are concerned, I'm still watching for a wave in the Caribbean that may come across lower Florida and enter the Gulf. For now, there is no development.
