Reality

Its sad to see this fight actually taking place, as in my opinion, Roy who is 49 years old, should have retired many fights and many losses ago. This retirement fight comes 10 years too late.

Its almost crazy to think that a man who was blessed of such talent as Mr Jones was, has 9 defeats on his record. This was a man, who once upon a time, could literally toy with world class opposition as though he were a god, and they, nothing but mere mortals.

Leaving his chin open, dropping his hands and offering what seemed to be free shots, was not an uncommon occurrence in a Roy Jones Jnr fight. His talents and reflexes, at times almost presented themselves as supernatural, and gave the impression that he possessed the capability to read his opponent's thoughts and know what they were going to do, before they did it.

The past is the past

But that was then, this is now, and age catches up with everybody. His speed slowed and his power waned, and Roy became a normal man. I once heard Roy give an interview after another loss that should never have been, and say something along the lines of, "I can still see what my opponents are going to throw, I just can't get out of the way anymore, my body won't do what i'm telling it too" if only Roy had listened to his body, it was telling him, its time to retire.

I can't really make a educated prediction of how this fight will progress, as i have never seen Sigmon fight, but if i were to make a guess. This fight won't be great. It won't be a fight that wins awards or has people talking about the action. It is a sad whimper of an end, to a brilliantly bright career that set the boxing world on fire, and inspired a generation of future would be stars to walk through those gym doors, and step through those ropes to begin their great boxing journey. And so this fight deserves mention, if for nothing more, than to say goodbye to a boxing icon and legend, who loved his sport so much, that he just couldn't give up the dream.

Thank you for the entertainment and the inspiration Roy, I salute you.

Keep steemin and keep well.
