Eye on Artists: Blue Oyster Cult

Another group I enjoy listening to is blue oyster cult. They've got a distinct classic rock sound that had mass appeal, one of their biggest hits is "Don't Fear the Reaper"

"Burnin' For You" is another good hit about feelings for someone and nostalgia. It has some cool lyrics and just all around is a great tune, with good backing vocals.

"Godzilla" is a heavier song that is good to rock out to or do something active.

"I love the Night" is slower and shows some of the different sounds a group can do even if not their core sound.

"Joan Crawford" starts with an interesting piano line then dives into an intricate and entertaining tune. After the piano lines it dives into an up beat rocking song with an interesting in your face vocal lead.

"This Ain't the Summer of Love" is a rocking song of theirs you can see the lead playing a headless guitar which looks pretty cool.

"Shooting Shark" is also a some what more versatile BOC song exploring the different cool sounds having a good groupd of competent artists jamming coming up with something to listen to. It has a mix of cool electric guitar leads, some horns, and interesting vocal harmonies. Seems very 80s, which is nice to be tied down to a time and a place rather than what Geroge Ritzer might assert some cultural product as "nothing" instead being "something."

"Astronomy" has gets to it a little slower but has some interesting an fun to listen to lead guitar work.

Probably my favorite BOC song is "Take Me Away" it has a heavy guitar riff and some great instrumentals. The music video is also very interesting and seems to be some people exploring an interesting installation.
