MY INTRODUCTION

A little about me:
Born and raised in New York City to Jane and Booker Ervin. My father, Booker T. Ervin Jr., a Jazz Saxophonist from the 50's and 60's, died when he was forty and I was ten.

I was devastated by his death and to this day find it unfair to have not been able to hang out with my dad, one of the coolest people on the planet. I have profound memories of him that are so great. His music is still on the radios every so often. As a baby, I started out on East Houston Street next to St. Mary's church where they have a great yearly Italian festival. From there I remember moving to Europe, I remember France and Amsterdam the most. These were places my father played with his band. I was around 4 or 5 at the time. I remember lots of Jazz clubs (kids were allowed in them) and a few childhood friends. Moved back to America some time when I was around 5 and we moved the lower East side of Manhattan on 3rd street and avenue D. Not a nice place as I remember. Sometime, not long after moving to 3rd street we moved again to 13th street and 3rd avenue where I lived until I was 18 years old. 13th Street and 3rd Ave. was an insane place to grow up in.

At 18 I left for the Air Force and became an aircraft mechanic.

I did most of my growing up in the Air Force. A lot of fun.
After the Air Force, I worked for a company named “American Rocket Co.”. They were the SpaceX of the eighties.

Our first rocket launch test never made it off the ground and I ended up in San Francisco attending their City College. From there went off to work overseas as an Aircraft Mechanic and returned to the U.S., married and with a one-year old daughter.

Worked in the commercial aviation industry for a few years before finding a nice job in Civil Service where my family and I were able to live in Japan, Hawaii, Las Vegas and lastly Alaska. Earned an Associate’s degree in Business management and a Bachelor’s degree in Management Studies, am PADI Instructor Diver and earned my Private Pilots license while working in Japan. I retired from Civil Service recently and started working with a company as a senior IT systems Tech on UNIX and Windows servers (yes, I’m a geek).

On a sad note but worthy of mentioning, I recently lost a very dear friend of 40+ years, Armand DiMele, kindest, smartest person ever in my life. I’m looking for things to do that will fill that gap and hope to spark something in this median. I’m a horrible writer but love the attempt.

I’m hoping I can stimulate some discussion on questions I’ve had about the world and the direction we Humans are taking in it. Not mountain top questions, just little silly ones that I’m sure could be debated by much better than me.
Lastly, always feel free to comment truthfully, I don’t read between lines well and I have very thick skin. I’m an Agnostic Atheist (If I knew!), a wanna be Pragmatic who loves the world and my life very much. Hope to see you in the “IT”
