Count Your Losses and Face Front... A Bloglet

Hi there!

This is another bloglet, and it's about realizing that not every good thing is for you.

Yep, you read right; some good things are not for you. Another way to say this is... Stop being greedy!

Let's say, for instance, I've got a passion for writing and I have this great copywriting job which is challenging, pays good and gives me a reason to look forward to work. Then, my good friend chats me up and we talk till we get to our income sources, and she tells me she is a software developer and she is also paid well. She mentions her take home salary and it's more than mine and I begin to wonder if I shouldn't think of a job in programming.

It's easy to see that there's something wrong with me, but sometimes we do same but not for something as big as a career.

There's nothing wrong in pursuing a career in software development, but why am I doing it?

Maybe you are full, you just had a good meal, and this healthy snack is offered. You ignore the fact that you are full and remind yourself that it is healthy.
That's greed!

In this scenario and similar ones, don't be greedy. Count your losses and leave it.

Counting your losses means you acknowledge that you are letting go of something good but you also acknowledge that it's not for you.

I don't need a career change and you are full.

Count your losses.
