Yesterday I just get an e-mail from Blizzard

Years of battling across the Koprulu Sector have brought us here, udgu. StarCraft is about to revel in two decades of intergalactic rivalry, and you're invited to celebrate with us all month long!

20 years!!! For a video game this far too many years when we consider it is still being played by too many people. Yes, after the release of the Starcraft II, and it's expnasions the majority of the fans started to play the fancy, brand new game but I think the both games could be considered as one because of it's epic storyline.

Starcraft and Broodwar

1998 or 1999 was the first year when I met Starcraft. I was a high school teenager trying every single video game while my taste of video game genre was forming. I was playing Warcraft II when a friend of mine came up with Starcraft. To be honest, I did not like the game too much at first, as it have three different races, flying buildings which I regret later and I left playing it after trying a couple of campaign missions. After a couple of years, I found myself playing Starcraft, with Its expansion Brood War, with my friends every single day. It became a addiction for us.

Hell, It's about Time

The epic saga of Starcraft continued respectively after waiting about a decade: Wings of Liberty, Hearth of the Swarm, Legacy of the Void. With the new multiplayer mode, matchmaking is so easy now and players can quickly battle against other players. The implimentation of the new units and some little changes to the existing units; Starcraft II became one of the most exciting e-sport game as expected.

Beyond its competitive gameplay and multiplayer experience; story behind the game is an epic masterpiece. It is not all about the main charachters like rebel Jim Raynor, Vicious Queen of Blades (formarly know as ghost Sarah Kerrigan), and mysterious & primeval Zeratul, but also the side charachters created this strong story. If you did not know about this story, you want to read this Story So Far article to start the story.

Anyway, now it is time to celebrate the 20th year of this magnum opus. Blizzard is ready with many attractions for this celebration like in-game rewards (for all of their games), documentary, live streams, discounts and many more.

I am glad that I played/ am playing/ will play Starcraft.
