Daily Dose of Sultnpapper 07/02/18> Playing trash man … not a job I enjoy but we all need to do it.

It seemed to me that the month of June just dragged on forever this year and I really don’t know why I feel like that but it did as far as I am concerned. It probably is a good thing June only has 30 days in it because I don’t know that I could have stood another day or two of it.

I think one of the reasons it seems that way is each time I opened my computer to write the Daily Dose or respond to some comments that folks were nice enough to share, the price of steem would be less than the last time I closed my computer. It didn’t really even matter if I only closed the computer for a few hours, it would always be lower when I got back on it.

Just flipping the calendar from June to July has seemed to make a difference at least for the first day anyway as steem took a nice price hike early in the day and I actually saw some green numbers on the internal market here on steemit.com. I haven’t look at the results for June but I would be willing to wager that there wasn’t a day that steem actually gained in value, am I wrong?

One thing I have never made a habit of doing is flagging people here on steemit.com but I had an account drop in on my daily dose from 07/01/18 and left a comment that at a glance was not what I would consider a blatant spamming type comment, it read “Nice read. I leave an upvote for this article thumbsup”. , @tomask-de .

Had this response come from an account I was familiar with or who had commented on some of my stuff before I wouldn’t have given a second thought about it, but I didn’t recognize this account so I decided to take a little visit over to where @tomask-de parks his sorry ass and have a look at the comments he has been making.

I started scrolling down through the comments this account made in the last few days and I stopped counting when I reached 100 comments, all the exact copy of the comment left on my Daily Dose. It sure is good to know that I am in the company of 99 others that he deemed were making posts that were “nice reads” makes feel real good that so many people are producing quality stuff as he sees it. NOT.

I am so inexperienced at flagging comments I actually flagged myself when I tried to flag him.

That just pissed me off even more than I already was, so I determined what I needed was more practice. I went and found a person who up voted @tomask-de comment and while it was only $0.01 worth of a vote I went ahead and flagged his sorry as there and wiped his meager $0.01 off that he had coming. It isn’t the matter of the penny; it is a matter of principle as I see it.

This place is our community and just like the community I live in I will pick up trash I see and put it in the trash can, even if it isn’t my own trash. We all need to do a part to keep the trash under control here and I can’t think of a better time than when the price of steem is low and so is my voting power. So while it may seem like I wasted a few votes that could have gone to deserving folks please just look at it as paying the trash man to pick up the trash.

We can all make a difference but we each need to make an effort in keeping this place cleaned up. I will continue to clean up the trash I see and I hope you will as well.

Until next time,
