Here are some pictures that I took a few weeks ago and an idyllic winter landscape can be seen and winter landscapes have been presented in art for centuries and are a popular motif. In earlier times as in the Middle Ages, this type of painting has not yet prevailed so much because winter has often been seen in religion as a kind of taboo topic and the artists could not express themselves so freely at that time and were still strongly linked to religion and it rarely happened that one was inspired by the atmosphere of this time. This style particularly developed in Europe and since the time of the Renaissance landscapes can particularly be found and were linked to the winter flair and many well-known artists have used the gloomy time of the year as a role model. It was mainly about bringing the snow to the present and for this the artist used different stylistic devices and it remained open to the artist whether he let his imagination run wild or to orient himself in real places and sometimes religious or historical events have also been painted. The artist tried to attach great importance to the color as well as the exposure and tried to make the work as authentic as possible and in order to improve the effect on the viewer, some effects such as fog, flowing waters or birds that decorated the landscape were used. The painting of the different times of the day was also important and so morning winter landscapes were often linked with fog while in the evening the works were given a darker color and also a lot of importance was attached to the mood and depending on the artist, gloomy or atmospheric emotions should be created and the main characteristics were the black and white contrasts. After the high Renaissance, the whole topic moved into the background and was rediscovered some time later when the style also changed and it was also about integrating more and more color tones into the works and in addition to presenting landscapes cities, festivals, markets or other events were often depicted which took place at that time. With the development of new art epochs, the winter landscapes have also been adapted more and more and to this day the painting of landscapes in winter is of great importance and it has been influenced by many painters such as Claude Monet, Vincent van Gogh and others and of course not only painters have been inspired by winter but also many other artists such as poets and more.
