You can see here one or the other pictures of the Greek god of the blacksmiths as well as the fire Hephaestus and I created these works of art with the help of artificial intelligence. Specifically, in this post, I would like to discuss the cult that originated around him and according to legends, his forge was located under the volcano on the island of Lemnos in the northern part of the Aegean and as his helpers were the Cyclops known and the Romans also had similar legends when it comes to the equivalent of him Vulcan who had his workshop inside the volcano Mount Etna on Sicily. It was often suspected when the volcano was just active or erupted that Hephaestus was just at work or was angry and to tame his anger, the people brought in the sacrifice or gifts because they feared his revenge and knew exactly that it was a bad idea to upset him and it is suspected that his cult also spread from Lemnos and in his underground workshop he made all the weapons and armor of the other gods and he was known to create magical objects and Hephaestus was responsible for pretty much all kinds of metal art and he was particularly revered by blacksmiths throughout Greece. Another important place where he was revered was the Greek city of Athens where he owned one of the today very well-preserved temples which was located in the middle of the center of the city and was located in the western part of the agora and near the temple there were many workshops of blacksmiths and to honor the goddess of wisdom Athena as well as Hephaestus the festival Chalkeia was celebrated. The focus of the festival was metal art and the goddess Athena had a particularly high priority and in their honor sacrifices and gifts were made and to honor Hephaestus, some sculptures were often placed near the stoves or other fireplaces and often he was also associated with occultism and typical objects which presented his cult were anvil, hammer, pliers and other tools he used and finds of ceramics from ancient times show his importance as a god and also the town of Hephaestia on the island of Lemnos was named after him.
