Hey dear community, first of all I would like to welcome you all to my new post and hope you had a day full of positive experiences! In this post, I would like to discuss an interesting topic and hope you can learn new things.
In psychology, the term subliminal refers to the perception of things that we only perceive quite unconsciously and lead to a change in thought patterns as well as the behavior and it is much about stimulating the subconscious. Subliminals have probably become known in the field of marketing where it was already about decades ago to work specifically with subliminal messages to increase the consumer's willingness to buy and there were many studies that have focused on research in this area and today, people exactly know how you have to work with subliminal messages to influence the actions of people. Even if advertising is a good example of dissemination, it can not only be referred to it and subliminals can be found also in many other areas where it comes to reaching people and you want to anchor certain ideologies or beliefs and as tools various things such as sounds or visual influences are typically used. With sounds, special attention is paid to the choice of frequencies that are not perceptible to the human ear and here alpha waves are perfect, which are in a range between 7 - 14 Hz and even if you do not consciously perceive these frequencies, they still reach the brain and unfold various different effects. Often it is also about working with other acoustic methods such as different sounds which are hardly perceived and a good example to explain this better is music where often a light buzz or voices are built into the background which is drowned out by the other frequencies and in this way sends messages to the brain and often different voices are also mixed together which send different kinds of messages to us. Without that we actively perceive what has been said by these voices, these signals are specifically processed and stored in our subconscious and the principle behaves similar with other forms of perception and when it comes to the so-called silent subliminals, it is about using high frequencies, which the ear cannot perceive. A good example for visual subliminals is about working with images, symbols, colors, effects and other stimuli that are only displayed very briefly and during a sequence, these are usually shown more often for only very short moments so that they should burn deep into the brain and the effects of the different types of subliminals is really interesting and used in many ways.
