Microsoft Azure Tool Launched, to Speed up Blockchain-Based Apps Creation


Microsoft's cloud computing platform Azure formally announced the launch of its blockchain app creation service, Azure Blockchain Workbench, on May 7.

In a press release, the business highlighted blockchain as a "key subject of interest" as it also shouts of its annual Microsoft Build conference this week.

Workbench enables businesses seeking to make bespoke blockchain apps to accelerate the creation process by automating infrastructure setup.

This, Microsoft Azure general manager Matthew Kerner states, means "programmers can concentrate on application logic, and business owners are able to concentrate on defining and validating their use cases."

The computing giant's optimism around both blockchain and aspects of cryptocurrency has lasted despite founder Bill Gates' well-publicized criticism of Bitcoin within an investment.

In February, support from the company came in the form of Microsoft's Identity branch plugging off-chain scaling solutions for Bitcoin, in some period when the Lightning Network was seeing significant increase in user numbers.

While integrating a blockchain-based ID system to its Microsoft Authenticator support, the company was specific in its praise of principal protocols. Back in February, Microsoft Identity director of application administration Alex Simons wrote about the Firm's blog:
