Indian State(Andhra Pradesh) Plans to Store Citizen Data on a Blockchain

India's one of the biggest state Andhra Pradesh, which is on the south side of India is planning to store citizens' data on a Block Chain with the help of cyber security firm WISeKey.

Andhra Pradesh (AP) is the 7th biggest state in India by the population and area. This state has announced to launch block chain pilot projects to in various departments of the state government.

The state has over 52 Millions in population, the government found a need to secure the large amount of citizens information's stored in several databases. To do so the state government tied with WISeKey to make use of their expertise in block chain technology and securing government recorded data.


WISeKey CEO and Founder Moreira Stated:

To have a pristine vision like putting the Citizen at the center of gravity, and building all the infrastructure around this vision is the key to successfully empower citizens to unleash their full potential.


Andhra Pradesh is one of the first states in the world that working and researching towards blockchain technology to secure the citizens information in the state. First the government is using this technology to secure Millions of Raction cards Data.

As the cyber attacks and crime is increasing in the recent time government is started using this technology to reduce security breaches.

Once it's done government is moving to the administrative department to store land registry on a blockchain. And this is going to the complete by the mid of 2018.
