Shell (SHL): Potential Use Case Scenarios

Hey everyone. Yesterday, I posted about the Oyster (PRL)/Shell (SHL) 1:1 Airdrop Delay Oyster PRL Shell SHL Airdrop Delay. Today I will be talking about some use cases for Oyster (SHL). This info comes from the link below. Click to learn more. Lets get to it...

Information about Oyster Shell (SHL)

Oyster Shell (SHL) Official Announcement: https://medium.com/oysterprotocol/oyster-shell-shl-airdrop-snapshot-date-update-82e7838e2b62

"Today I am introducing Oyster Shell (SHL). Shells are used to pay for connectivity and Dapp operation across the Oyster meshnet, whilst Pearls are used for static data retention on the tangle. Shell is not pegged to storage like how Pearl is. In the future you will be able to use Shells to access the decentralized web, connectivity that entirely bypasses ISPs and centralized infrastructure.

Potential use case scenarios:

You want to call your friend in a decentralized and secure way. The app on your phone looks for peer-to-peer connections (Bluetooth and WiFi) with other phones running Oyster nearby and a meshnet call is made, therefore bypassing the ISP. SHL is used to pay for connectivity instead of a monthly ISP bill. No third party can trace, block or listen into the phone call.

The Oyster chat group migrates from Telegram/Slack to the Oyster chat Dapp. The Oyster team pays the Oyster network in SHL and PRL to run the group chat Dapp.

You want to access content that is blocked by your ISP and avoid getting tracked, your computer connects directly to the Oyster meshnet by finding a peer-to-peer neighbor (Bluetooth, WiFi, LiFi). Your SHL wallet is used to fund connectivity and bandwidth usage."

The 1st case scenario should be a huge win for privacy and freedom intervention from regulatory agencies listening into individual's phone calls. As Snowden has mentioned in the past, the NSA has been listening into US citizen's phone calls without their knowledge, which is highly unconstitutional. Of course they do it in the name of "safety" or to "prevent terrorism." Now thanks to SHL, no 3rd party will able to trace, block, or listen into our phone calls. A big win for the people in my opinion.

In the 2nd Scenario, users won't be restricted to the rules and policies that are carried by Slack, Telegram, or any other owned social media app. This will also allow the Oyster team to keep SHL inside of the Oyster network, rather than sending money out for the network to 3rd parties and then having those 3rd parties selling SHL on the market, dropping the price.

The 3rd scenario is a big win for those in other countries in which their governments ban certain ISP addresses and Internet connectivity. Now thanks to SHL, these individuals will have access to the Internet without restrictions and without the regulatory agencies knowing. Another win the people.

Well there you have it. I would love to see PRL and SHL become successful in the future. This is bringing real world use of blockchain technology to the masses. This is bringing power back to the people. I am a big proponent of the ideologies and beliefs of the SHL team. Just look at Facebook recently, and their sneaky ways of extracting your data without your consent or without your knowing, and then profiting off of it. Facebook rewards the few and is an example of the greediness and corruption that occurs when you have centralization and oligarchy. It is time for the people to take their freedom back...and SHL is a step in the right direction to help achieve that goal.

Well thanks for stopping by. Feel free to chime in with your thoughts and ideas. See you soon...
