Zencash vs Komodo (aka BitcoinDark)

I have been seeing BitcoinDark going up recently, and remembered seeing it was swapping 1:50 KMD on their website http://bitcoindark.com/

So it looks like we are days away from the final token swap from BTCD to KMD, and I wanted to compare that to ZenCash..

If you take a look from https://blog.zensystem.io/zencash-compared-to-komodo-infographic/

The main differences are:

  • ZenCash has 2 MB Block size - Komodo has No Limit on their Block size
  • ZenCash has 150 Block Time - Komodo has 60 second Block Time
  • ZenCash has 12.5 ZEN Block Reward - Komodo has 3 KMD Block Reward
  • ZenCash has a Halving every 4 years - Komodo has No Halving
  • ZenCash has 1024 bytes Message Encryption - Komodo has no Message Encryption
  • ZenCash has 21 million supply - Komodo has No Limit on their supply

So if we compare that to something like Bitcoin Private, which is what ZenCash was forked from (formerly Zclassic) we can compare to Zcash and leave out the 20% founders fee.

They are both less than 2 million, which is 10x less than Bitcoin so they were similar on that aspect..

But we have to remember now with Komodo it is getting 50:1 Bitcoin Dark and will not be limited!

However if we compare ZEN to Zcash..

We see that ZEN has some great features over something like Zcash too.. It is just all about prefrence & use.

Conclusion

With Bitcoin Private, BitcoinDark, swap for Komodo, and some were limited but now aren't unlimited.. It can be confusing!

But it is great to see the variety of options with "secure payment coins", and I think there is room and a need for most if not all of them!

Let me know what you think, and thanks for checking this out!
