Getting Past the BitPay Card...how about spending Steem directly?

@richq11 and @dwinblood have both brought up issues with the BitPay card as of late. You can see Bitpay's remarks here

This is a card I have used in the past.

Let us suppose that cards like this become unusable...how do we spend our Bitcoin?

Business Insider provides a list of business where you can spend BTC, which includes

  • Expedia, for trips
  • Microsoft
  • Virgin Galactic
  • Overstock.com
  • NewEgg
  • eGifter (this outlet sells Amazon gift cards!)
  • Zynga

You can also try Coin Mall

So you can buy tangible items, but you still can't get CASH. You might try localbitcoins.com. which you may find complicated the first time.

On the other hand

How about spending our Steem directly?

  • You can look on Peerhub for items
  • You may be able to trade Steem for gold at Goldmoney
  • Steemshop is a Steemit account that facilitates Steem currency exchanges for goods. I saw an offer for fiat here

It sucks that we just can't simply and reliably (and anonymously, for some of us) load up a debit card with cypto, and spend or pull cash without some nannystate buttinsky shoving their nose in our ass
