NEM leads the way down after Coincheck drops the ball! How to Stay Safe?

Greetings!

I hope many of you Steemians didn't get burned in the most recent hack. It was a big one.

Over 527m in NEM were stolen from Coincheck!
That's 7-8% of the entire current market cap!

Many news organizations are running with this story and it has caused the market to topple downward.

The market is recovering now, but things don't look good for NEM (and others)

These are definitely hard times for crypto-currencies and another reason why you should never leave all of your crypto-currencies on an exchange!

Here are a few things which can help keep you safe in times like this:

  1. Make sure all of your coins are in a safe place. Do not store all of your value on an exchange.

  2. Make use of Decentralized Exchanges as much as possible (these are nearly impossible to hack) since you are in control of your coins 100% of the time. As opposed to one central service holding the coins for everyone and issuing IOUs until that person withdraws (this is how a typical exchange works).

  3. Get a hardware wallet. There are many safe ways to store your coins, but the most user-friendly option is definitely a hardware wallet. (Ledger, Trezor)

Please be careful, and as always..

I WISH YOU MASSIVE PROFITS!
