You are absolutely right. Deflation means your dollars have more buying power because Dollars will be scarce, which is what makes them worth MORE.
However, in the mad scramble to get the dollars which are usually in the bank, the bank must produce them from somewhere all at the same time. It's called a run on the banks which even the FDIC will not be able to handle. This will be the interesting part of deflation.
The whole system hangs on trust, belief which more and more is threatened with scandals and revelation of corruption. Government officials, banks, and people who are supposed to have our best interest in mind are continuously exposed. Trust, belief, and confidence are eroding at a rapid pace: Wells Fargo, Deutsche bank, the closing of bank branch around the corner of my home. One of my clients was afraid to tell her bank that she wanted large sums in cash. The bank official told her it would be no problem; others were doing the same thing. She had only to make an appointment and follow certain procedures. It is happening. Quietly. In your own neighborhood.
