Felix Kjellberg, better known as PewDiePie, is moving his streaming shows from YouTube or Twitch to DLive, which is a blockchain-powered platform. His live streams will be exclusively on the platform, at least for the next several months. His first weekly live show will start on April 14th and can be watched on the DLive website or within the DLive mobile app.
DLive is a streaming platform build on the Lino Network blockchain. The native currency for the platform is also Lino. The platform doesn't take revenue cuts from its creators, but instead puts 9.9 percent of the donations in a reward pool for active platform users. In comparison: Twitch.TV takes 50% of the channel subscription revenue, while YouTube takes almost half of the ad revenue and subscription revenue.
Not only do creators earn Lino, but also viewers are getting rewarded in the currency for being active on the platform. That's the 9.9 percent mentioned earlier. DLive is the first service build on the Lino blockchain. The company says it has 3 million monthly active users and over 35 thousand people who stream regularly. The platform has a built-in exchange service to switch Lino Points into cash. The exchange rate is 1.2%.
PewDiePie is tapping into his 93 million YouTube followers, 17.3 million Twitter followers and his 16 million fans on Instagram, to promote his move to the blockchain streaming platform.
DLive is the first service build on the Lino blockchain. The company says it has 3 million monthly active users and over 35 thousand people who stream regularly. It's aiming for growth at the moment, which would create liquidity for their token and therefore value. It's not yet known which other services will be launched on the Lino network.
