Five Celebrities That Own Cryptocurrencies

A cryptocurrency is a " digital currency in which encryption techniques are used to regulate the generation of units of currency and verify the transfer of funds, operating independently of a central bank." and it's proven itself to make the average person some reasonably large sums of money, so why wouldn't Hollywood get in on the action? Here's a list of five of the most famous people who invested in cryptocurrency.

  • Roseanne Barr

Roseanne began publically backing Bitcoin in early 2014, urging her Twitter followers to educate themselves in the digital currency.

  • Mel B

Melanie Janine Brown (Mel B) became the first artist to accept bitcoin as a payment for her music in 2013, her reasoning is that new technology excites her and it unites her fans, allowing everyone in the world to pay using the same currency. I'm sure the increase in bitcoin prices isn't the reason, sure.

  • Ashton Kutcher

Ashton's venture fund, Grade-A Investments, has invested in BitPay, a service that'll allow businesses to accept bitcoin as payment. It must be doing something right to be right alongside his other investments in AirBnb, Uber, and Spotify.

  • Mike Tyson

Actor and professional wrestler Mike Tyson has often voiced his fondness of Bitcoin and digital currency. He seems to see it as a way to make more money from himself though, joining with a bitcoin service and creating his own wallet service. And if you look around Vegas, you might find a few branded Mike Tyson Bitcoin ATMs.

  • Bill Gates

The richest man in the world has that title due to his companies all rooted deeply in technology, so it's no surprise Bill Gates not only owns Bitcoin but is vocal in his support for it.

Do you own cryptocurrencies? Would you like to use it in an everyday setting?
