This morning we got a much anticipated update from the people at BTC-e. They have confirmed suspicions that they were in fact raided by the FBI and their servers and some of the exchange's funds were seized. They have promised that if they can not restart the service by September the 1st, they will begin the process of refunding user funds. They have also stated that the man previously arrested in Greece, Alexander Vinnik, had no official relationship with BTC-e.
While this is heartening information, I am not going to hold my breath, but if anyone can recover from this it is certainly BTC-e. I wish them good luck with their plans.
