Huobi Global makes moves into American markets

It's an East meets West at the San Francisco Blockchain Week

The decentralized nature of the blockchain ecosystem is synonymous with globalization. Most blockchain startups facilitate the digitization of real-world assets into digital value which can be easily transferred between entities regardless of their geographical location. As a provider of digital assets exchange services, Huobi Global has mainly operated within Asian markets despite its stature as a leading digital asset investment, management and exchange services provider. Consequently, Huobi Global continues to make strides to establish its global presence through customer based improvements to its brand and services and expansion into American, European and African markets through ambassador programs.

FORAYS INTO AMERICA (the San Francisco Blockchain Week)

Beyond providing digital asset management and exchange services, as a part of the global blockchain community, Huobi Global plays an active role in the incubation of ideas, development of partnerships and funding of new projects to spur the growth and success of blockchain technology as a whole. It is within this context that between the 9th and 11th of October, Huobi Global sent a delegation to the San Francisco Blockchain Week. This delegation comprised of representatives from its investment branch (Huobi Capital and Huobi Fund) its blockchain services and partnership branch (Huobi Cloud), and representatives from Huobi Global’s exchanges.

The San Francisco Blockchain Week marked the first time Huobi Group has hosted an event in America. This event comes at a time in which sentiments towards cryptocurrencies in America can be regarded as “warming up”. In May this year, news that New York investment bank Goldman Sach’s would establish a trading desk for Bitcoin derivatives heralded the much-anticipated entrance of institutional investors into crypto. Additionally, in September New York Department of Financial Services approved the launch of the stable coin GUSD, which raised hopes that a legitimate, licensed and fully audited stable coin will provide investors an option from the volatility of cryptocurrencies.

Blockchain Cocktail Night — Huobi Group X JD Capital

On the 9th of October, Huobi Group and JD capital hosted a cocktail party, which provided an excellent opportunity for both investors and developers to table their ideas on the establishment of industry standards and to discuss the future expectation of crypto society. David Chaum delivered a keynote speech. The cocktail party proved to be quite successful and with over 300 attendees, it was a full house and another 300 on the waiting list.

Huobi Capital Pitch Event & Networking

Huobi Capital, which is the investment arm of Huobi Global, focuses solely on projects which are based on blockchain technology. As such, on the 10th of October, Huobi Capital hosted an event in which blockchain entrepreneurs pitched their ideas and networked with industry leaders. Notable projects included Hadron, Fragments and ARPA .

Silicon Valley Meetup

On October 11th, 2018, Huobi Group hosted a meet up which focused on development, trends and investments in blockchain technology. The meeting featured interesting panel discussions such as “Value-Based Investment in the Bear Market” and an interesting talk by Steve Wei from Top Network on “Decentralized Communication Services on a High-Performance Public Blockchain Platform”

REMARKS

In essence, the three events hosted by Huobi Group provided industry insight from multiple perspectives and created opportunities for networking for Eastern and Western stakeholders and players in the blockchain industry. Most importantly; it gave innovative North American projects a chance to secure funding from Huobi Capital and Huobi fund.
