This building is the birthplace of Stockholm
Syndrome! 🤓 For those not familiar with the term,
a robbery and hostage situation took place here in
1973 when it was a bank. Surprisingly,
the hostages developed a psychological allegiance with
their captors, viewing them in a positive light,
refusing to condemn their actions and even going
as far as raising money afterwards to pay for
their criminal defense lawyer and also refusing to
testify against the men in court. Nils Bejerot,
a Swedish psychiatrist and criminologist, dubbed
this phenomena "Norrmalmstorg Syndrome"
(named after the street where it occurred) now better
known as Stockholm Syndrome! — at Norrmalmstorg.
