When it comes to the Word of God, like anything in life believing is essential. If an individual doesn't believe in one thing or another it won't profit them to be told, taught or exhorted to consider anything.
In Hebrews 11:6 it states- But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Faith can be thought of in this verse as believing,belief, conviction... convinced that God Is...How can one become convinced that God is?
By reading or hearing the Word of God, the Bible.
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. -Romans 10:17
Of course there are so many distractions in the world to keep people from believing God's Word- And that is because we have an adversary,our enemy, that is fighting to keep people from believing God's Word because it's the Truth and Truth makes you free while lies only serve to enslave.
In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. -2 Corinthians 4:4
Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; -John 8:31
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. -John 8:32
So God's Word is true, and it can be trusted, far more than the words of man.
In John Chapter 3 a Jewish Scholar asked about being born again...?
Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. -John 3:3
...cannot see the kingdom of God, born again??? If you read the context you will find that Jesus Christ speaks of being born of the spirit - the Spirit of God.
In verse 5 Jesus explains that when you are born the first time you're born of water - you know that a baby is in the amniotic fluid (water) in their mothers womb, and when mothers water breaks it wont be long before baby is born - well we of course must be born the first time - of water, but also be born again of Spirit...the 1st birth is flesh and because of the fall due to the disobedience of Adam & Eve our flesh won't live forever.
On the other hand God in the finished work of Jesus Christ has made a way that if we believe and accept it we can receive eternal Life.
Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. -1 Peter 1:23
Corruptible seed is our flesh our first birth, incorruptible is when we become born again.
So at this time I wanted to mention that being "born again" "being saved" "receiving Jesus Christ in your Heart" "Salvation" are all generally synonymous.
So I will leave you with two important verses.
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. -Romans 10:9
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. -Romans 10:10
