Alexander the Great in the Bible: "Then a mighty king will arise, who will rule with great power and do as he pleases" Daniel 11:3.

Despite its importance in the history of the ancient world, the sacred scriptures when telling about the life of Alexander the Great are very brief. And this is very important to highlight because if anything is known for sure about the life of Alexander, it was that he was a person very interested in spiritual matters. And this fact falls as a logical issue, because what else can a person seek once he has conquered the entire world known at that time, other than the eternal life and the immortality?
Alexander the Great visited the oracle of Gordium where he untied the famous knot that was associated with a prophecy and the oracle of Siwa in Egypt for example, but it is never mentioned in the Bible that he visited the temple of Jerusalem.
This suggests a very interesting conclusion, that the Bible as it is known has been a product of the Maccabean dynasty, as a reaction to Hellenism prevailing between the 1st and 3rd centuries BC in the Middle East.
But beyond these historical analyses, perhaps the most important mention in the Bible about Alexander the Great was made by the prophet Daniel. Daniel especially prophesied the times between the fall of the Achaemenid dynasty of the Persian Empire until the end of Alexander's successors and the birth of Lord Jesus.
According to the Bible, God did not approve the empire of Alexander, letting it fall apart without leaving a successor: "Then a mighty king will arise, who will rule with great power and do as he pleases. After he has arisen, his empire will be broken up and parceled out toward the four winds of heaven. It will not go to his descendants, nor will it have the power he exercised, because his empire will be uprooted and given to others" Daniel 11:3-4.
According to the biblical wisdom, Alexander's empire disappeared just as it emerged, because riches are treacherous, only when it is built on true spiritual values, is it built safely.
