The beatitude: You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory. Psalm 73:24

The Bible teaches us a beatitude in the book of Psalm: "You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory" Psalm 73:24. The beatitude for the man, in the Bible, means going in the correct way, being sensible or rational, being assertive in the face of problems; beatitude is beyond the virtues of justice and prudence, because the blessed man does not seek his own happiness but the vision of God, and this is the glory. Blessed were the prophets, the kings who obeyed the pact with God and his commandments, and ultimately all those who feared God: "But the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love" Psalm 33:18.
The counsel is a perfection of God, a charisma from above, and not a virtue: "Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect" Matthew 5:48. The counsel as a spiritual gift, is related with the faculties of the spirit and not the faculties of the soul: listen (perceive with attention), meditate with intuition and inspiration, decide with creativity and discernment.
The counsel or sacred listening has a special feature, it is precise and exact, the council seeks the truth; that is why it is so important to have this spiritual gift when the truth is hidden or when it is disguised. The council protects us from our enemies and from falling into traps and deceptions. This spiritual gift is intimately linked to the prophecy; but they are not the same, the council is known as exact justice. We see this gift in the old testament in those cases where the administration of justice is extremely difficult; and the help of God is needed for the resolution, by this gift we resolve what appears to our judgment as God in person. We see a case of the gift of advice in the book of Daniel, in the trial of Susanna (Daniel 13:1-64); and also in the trial of the King Solomon and the two prostitutes (1 Kings 3:16-28). Later in the Christian faith, the gift of advice will be considered one of the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit.
