It is basically a long term security operation conducted by MINUSMA of the United Nations. The Bangladesh Army has been conducting the operation very efficiently on behalf of MINUSMA. The main purpose of the operation is to increase the force needed to maintain UN control in Ansongo-Labezanga, to ensure that no one obstructs the movement of local people and their goods in the area, and to assist the Malian Security Forces in redeployment in the Ansongo circle.

To achieve the above activities, the Bangladesh Army has conducted 353 Long Range Day and Night Patrols and 138 Air Reconnaissance Patrols in 2019 under MINUSMA. Besides, 299 check posts have been set up as part of the increase in power. All this had to be done by dealing with local and international terrorist groups in Mali. Through these patrols and check posts, the main supply routes have been made uninterrupted, the locals have been able to move smoothly in the UN-controlled areas, while the logistical support of the forces deployed under MINUSMA in the region is also being secured. Besides, the importance of the UN establishments here is immense due to the geological nature of the border of Niger with this region. The members of the Bangladesh Army are carrying out the responsibility of defending them with the highest professionalism.
