National security adviser United States Vice President Mike Pence, Jon Lerner, decided to resign after President Donald Trump called protesting his appointment. The resignation came just two days after the Pence office announced the appointment of Lerner.

Lerner was appointed officially as Pence's foreign policy advisor on Friday (13/4). However, on Sunday (15/4) night, the vice president's office again issued a statement stating that Lerner has been removed.

His dismissal began when Pence and several senior officials were on their way to Peru to attend an American summit. At that moment Trump received news of Lerner's appointment. Trump is called receiving the wrong information that mentions that Lerner "never became Trumper or Trump supporters."

Lerner is known to support Senator Marco Rubio in the election of Republican presidential candidate in the 2016 election. Because of that information, Trump was called furious at Lerner's appointment. White House officials said Pence had called Trump to cool down.

However, news of Lerner's appointment debate has already been smothered in the media. Trump reportedly asked the Chief of Staff of the President John Kelly to cancel Lerner's appointment.

Hearing chaotic appointments, Lerner was called to offer voluntarily to resign on Sunday night. "He offered to step back in order to minimize internal conflict and drama," said a White House official.
